I don’t know exactly what it is about this picture..

…but it’s going up on my website – we’re talking homepage folks – and it’s going up right now. She is so ridiculously beautiful, and not even technically a tween yet. Dad’s going to have to get a big stick to scare the boys away in a few years….but as sensible and sweet as this one is, he shouldn’t have too may sleepless nights. This picture doesn’t show her sapphire blue eyes (I thought my son had cornered the market on the award for “World’sBLUEST Eyes”, but I gotta tell y’all, she may overthrow him….and that’s tough for me to accept…) but the black and white just captured her so well…I had to use it. What a doll, and a big help to mom as well, I know. Just had to share!

*newsflash*

Friends, family, and beloved acquaintances – DO NOT FRET – I have NOT forgotten to send you a Christmas Card this year. I am….shall we say….very, very behind. I’ve been so busy taking pictures of everyone else, that I’ve put off photographing my own little slice of Heaven until last weekend. Seriously. It just HAD to be done, so I grabbed Hubby after he returned from an 18 mile (not a typo) run early Saturday morning, found the nearest brick wall (luckily, hubby was still experiencing runner’s high, so therefore was agreeable to spending 15 minutes jumping up and down to make baby laugh), and got a few snapshots that I hope will work. They should be in next week. So no, I haven’t forgotten you….I PROMISE! It just may be on Christmas Eve this year instead of the day after T’giving like usual.

Well, gotta go get the little man out of bed. Have a terrific day, and I’ll post more soon!

Hugs, PB

Thank Heaven for little girls…

…and their hair bows, which always provide material for at least one or two great shots. Apparently the hair bow is the universal leading nemesis amoung all toddler girls getting their pictures made. It’s always a scene, and this little honey was no different.

*Now, in other news*

As always, thank you so much for your interest in Patti Brown Photography – and ya’ll don’t forget to take some time to enjoy the magic of the season!

Yesterday’s shoot….

…was a very special one, with a delightful family! I just had to share this out-take with y’all, as Dad is leaving for Iraq, and I was honored to get to take some family pics before he left. Often times, while “directing” I’ll say “hug your kids like you won’t see them for a year” in order to capture some action and emotion…. In this case, it was true. Godspeed & God Bless!

*Shifting Gears*

On another note – or shall I say an exciting note for me personally – I was THRILLED to receive an “OMGoodness” phone call the other night that has made my entire week!! I recently contacted a photographer who is (in my opinion, and many many others) considered the TOP child photographer in Dallas, because her work is what really inspired me to get serious about pictures. I just was feeling all “sharey” (tis the season perhaps?) and wanted to let her know how much her work has impacted my life….Although I thought she MAY email back briefly to wish me luck, I was BEYOND touched when she actually took the time to call me at home, and share some wonderful advice, anecdotes, and great tips about the business overall!! CAN Y’ALL BELIEVE IT!!! If I told ya’ll who she was, you’d know why I’m so overboard – but I’m not going to, as I don’t want every single newbie photographer out there bugging her with all sorts of questions about lenses and equipment and such. I mean y’all – she is BUSY, and all I can say is I got lucky to hear from her. Karma must be paying me back for something nice I’ve done. I WILL tell you this (coded hint here) she is an absolute SWEETheart, and if I was a fan of her work before, I’ve officially hit fanatic state at this point! I know she constantly gets requests from aspiring greats like me asking to come along on shoots, etc., and I don’t know why she chose to help me out, but I’ll be forever grateful!!

Now, I only wish I could fly back to the “Big D” immediately in order to book a session with her for my OWN family pictures! (was that a good segue into this next thought? – or as awkward as Whoopi on “The View?”….)

Speaking of Dallas, we had a WONDERFUL Thanksgiving in Texas, ate Tamales until we popped, took in the Cowboy’s game (can y’all say SNOW? At Texas Stadium? – W-I-L-D!) and most importantly, got to spend some time with our dearest friends and wonderful family. But as is always the case – it wasn’t enough time…

We are happy to be back in BEAUTIFUL Virginia! Even though the Mexican food is just NOT the same!!!

Big Hugs,

PB

One more…

…from my Holiday sessions. This Grandma is loving all up on her newest Grand baby (she has 10 total!) and I just love it….Sweet Sage is the mom to all 4, her husband is in Afghanistan, and they were my very last “Christmas Card” shoot. The deadline was actually a day before this was taken, but how could I possibly tell someone with a newborn, plus three kids (oldest is 7) and a deployed husband that I didn’t have the time? We’re scrambling now to pick out the Christmas Card photo, and of course the clock is ticking away, but I think we’ll come up with something cute. Plus, I’m hoping Dad gets to see some of the shots of his beautiful family this Christmas, since he’ll be so far away. Okay, just in case I don’t get to post again before Thanksgiving – y’all have a wonderful, wonderful holiday!! And please, please(as if I need to remind you) say an extra prayer for our troops, (and their wives….like Miss Sage) who can’t be home this holiday. God Bless!
